NZ Salary Database Terms of Use

By accessing or using the NZ Salary Database ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Permitted Use
The salary data provided through this Service is intended solely for:
- Personal career decisions — researching salaries for your own career planning, job searches, or salary negotiations
- Employment decisions — employers may use the data to inform compensation decisions for their own organisation
- General market understanding — gaining insight into salary trends in New Zealand
2. Prohibited Activities
You agree NOT to:
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access, collect, or download data from the Service
- Republish, redistribute, or commercially exploit salary data from the Service in any form
- Create derivative databases or datasets using data from the Service
- Share account credentials or allow others to access the Service through your account
- Circumvent rate limits or other technical measures designed to protect the Service
- Submit false, misleading, or fabricated salary information
- Attempt to de-anonymise or identify individual salary submissions
3. Data Accuracy & Limitations
- Salary data is crowdsourced from anonymous submissions and may not reflect official figures
- We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the data
- Data should be used as one of many inputs in salary-related decisions, not the sole source
- AI-generated estimates are clearly marked and based on market analysis, not actual submissions
4. Intellectual Property
The aggregated and processed salary data, database structure, algorithms, and analysis tools are the intellectual property of Salaries.co.nz. Individual anonymised submissions remain the property of their contributors. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from our data or tools without explicit written permission.
5. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service, without notice, for any violation of these Terms, including but not limited to:
- Automated or excessive access patterns suggesting scraping or data harvesting
- Sharing or republishing salary data
- Submitting false or misleading salary information
- Any activity that threatens the integrity or security of the Service
6. Privacy
We collect minimal personal information and take the privacy of salary contributors seriously. Salary submissions are anonymised and cannot be traced back to individuals. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your data.
7. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or notice on the Service.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR RELIANCE ON SALARY DATA.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New Zealand.
